Shed Day has arrived and boy were we glad the weather held. We custom designed a kit and arranged for the installation. The construction took roughly five hours with two men for this 12×16 foot shed to be built. This time lapsed video shows the whole process.
I considered the following items during the design process:
- How large do I need the studio to be? To replace my existing studio I needed about 200 sq ft. Our city requires permits for any structure larger than 200 sq ft and one story tall. So we chose to have a steeper room angle to give me loft space for storage.
- Insulate or not to insulate? Yes. I will be working all year long in my she shanty and want to be comfortable. I will also have paints and glues that need a constant temperature.
- I chose to have the floor specially treated for durability and ease of care.
What are your concerns about building a she shed? Would you DIY this?
