This week we received a great gift: the official trailer and series poster of the Dark Crystal prequel Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. As an 80’s kids I have to thank Netflix for it’s many offerings of nostalgia. This however is something fans of Jim Henson has been waiting for since his death. I was in high school when the news of his sudden death was announced. My group of friends and I found ourselves taking a moment of silence for losing a legend.  I was that kind of teen black hair and all kinds of emotions.

Once he passed away Henson studios had a few more years attempting to not just be the studio of The Muppets. Unfortunately after Bear in the Big Blue House the strong hands of Disney seemed to have stopped the spring of originality.

Now we have a chance to return to Thra. With Lisa Henson as an executive producer I’m confident the spirit of the original will carry through.   This series has a mix of CGI and puppetry that allows for the same feel of the original. We don’t know much about the story DC:AOF is telling. But what we do know is this show follows the Netflix pattern of 10 episodes for the first season of the series.  Rian, Brea and Deet are Gelflings who instigate an uprising against the Skeksis. They somehow uncover a secret behind their overlords’ power.
